Timetable: Iceland. Mobility, Spatiality, Virtuality. Defining new touristic relationships through remote encounters, distant desires and embodied experiences.

* Papers will be approx twenty mins in length, and Artist Presentations are between 5-10 mins long. We will aim to stick to the time table. Please note the event will be running to UK time.

First Session.

11am – Welcome: Jen Southern of LICA and Cemore.
11.10 - Introductory paper Gudrun Filipska : The near and far and the fast and slow, the complications and ethical entanglements of artists' travel experiences. On foot, by flight and at sea.
11.20 - Valentina Schulte- Artist Presentation: Nattsol: The Resignation of Night
11.30 - Kirsty Palmer - Artist Presentation.
11.40 - Kaya Barry - PAPER : Artists not tourists; residents, or maybe migrants? Tensions of international artistic mobility and tourism cultures.

12.00 - Break 

Second Session.

12.10 - Caroline Kelley - PAPER: Souvenirs of Iceland.
12.30 - Grace Hailstone -  Artist Presentation :Between imagination and reality: Embodied experiences and transcending the landscape
12.40 - Carly Butler- PAPER: Skirting around Reykyavik. Notes on a journey across Iceland. 
1pm - Aki Poon - Artist Presentation.
1.10 - Holly Chang - Artist Presentation: How to Disappear when No one is Looking.
1.20 - Thomas Chen - PAPER.
1.40 - Alison Shields - Artist's Presentation.
1.50 Sophia Sæmundsdóttir – Artist Presentation: Places in progress – A different view.

2.00 pm Lunch - listen in to a conversation between Rhona Eve Clews (artist) and Alex Knight (DJ and record producer) about the Icelandic Music scene.

Third Session.

2.30 - Keynote Jessica Auer – Keynote PAPER: Looking North.
3.00 - Matthias Egeler – PAPER: Seeing Iceland differently: towards a typology of travellers.
3.20 - Taey Lohe – PAPER.
3.40 - Karen Stentaford - Artist Presentation: The portable darkroom: wet plate collodion in never ending daylight.
3.50 - Jay Simpson and Henri Fletcher – PAPER: Cairns in the Westfjords.

4.10 - discussion and quick tea break .

Fourth Session. Chaired by Jen Southern.

5.10 - Matt Williams – PAPER: Practice: Absence and Distance.
5.30 - Rhona Eve Clews and Berglind Hreiðarsdóttir– Expanded Artist Presentation: Opening to the Other.
5.55 - Questions, thoughts and discussion led by India Boxall.
6.10 - General discussion and drinks.
